A Peaceful Post. Fish Quickie

There are so many sad things going on in the world. People fight, friends break up, countries disagree, so there are tears, war and so much unnecessary sadness. What are the conflicts in the world trying to prove? Why do they want power, territory, size, wealth? Why does the world today, in 2012, try to solve problems and disagreements through blood and violence rather than through communication and collaboration?.. Why don't they learn from 2 (!!) world wars, why do they hurt others and not feel that they should stop?..

Why is it sometimes so difficult to make peace, whether it's nations, countries, cities, families or friends?.. Why can't we all sit down at a big table and celebrate how healthy, happy and friendly we are, why don't we share the joy and love rather than hatred? Why don't we celebrate our differences and learn from each other?.. Maybe I am really naive and silly, but I really wish there were less disagreements and tears, whether that's between two countries or just two people.

Why not more of this????

I am sending all my love to my mum in Israel, where the situation is not the most peaceful right now. It makes me really worried, I hope it is all going to turn out all right. I pity the people who are behind all of this, I pity their blind childish minds and the feeling of guilt they will have to face one day.

On a brighter note, I really would love to end up at a big friendly table with lots of happy people celebrating. If we do end up sitting at that table, we need something to eat, right? Well I've got this really easy and very quick fish recipe, that is absolutely delicious!

Ingredients:
For the fish:
2 sea bass fillets
2 tbsp butter
2 cloves of garlic, peeled and chopped
2 tsp thyme
1 tsp mustard seeds
salt and pepper

For the vegetable mash:
1 big parsnip
2 medium potatoes
1 big onion
a little butter
a little milk
salt and pepper

Start preparing the mash: bring a pot of peeled and cut up potatoes and the parsnip to boil, while frying up the chopped up onion, when it releases a lovely smell, add it to the boiling potatoes and parsnip.

While the veggies are boiling, melt the butter in a pan and sizzle the chopped garlic on a medium heat. Throw in the thyme and let the flavours come out. After about a minute, when the smell becomes full and lovely, reduce the heat, throw in the mustard seeds and gently place the sea bass fillets in the butter.

When the vegetables have boiled, drain them, put in the butter and milk and mash. Add salt and pepper.

Flip the fish to brown and crisp the other side. Once done, put some mash on the plate with some vegetables on top (I've used some boiled buttered runny beans) and place the fish on top. If there are any bits left in the pan (like garlic covered in all the lovely spices), trust me - it's the best bit!

Enjoy!
